Some interesting clips from the spring scrimmage last night

UPDATE (player spotlight)

Here are some nice clips of the promising playmakers for 2010, featuring (last year's Y, now playing X) #21 Desmon Ethridge and 2013 prospect (yes, he's just a freshman right now), #4 Damien Jiggetts making plays with Baylor University in attendance at the scrimmage.

FYI

...And that was my last night officially coaching for quite some time (maybe for good). My son turns 13 this summer and I will have him with me full-time from here on out, so I'd rather not short change any time with him (juggling 'work' and a coaching schedule).

I enjoyed my experience with the staff at HHS and think the world of the kids and their families that play ball there.

  1. Intrasquad is always tougher on the offense....especially in the spring....you probably have a couple players hanging out in baseball right now, huh?

    Thanks for sharing

  2. a few....
it helps that the team we scrimmaged....sucked.

Last year we scrimmaged the 2009 2A State Champ (Evangel) last spring and got taken to the woodshed. Not exactly a big confidence builder heading into the summer.

Dont let Coach Evans see you saying they sucked.. he might throw down the challenge on you!!

  4. lol - yeah, well, Coach Evans made me jealous.....he ran more than one coverage.

Just putting the clips into perspective - those takeaways were the result of bad throws more than great technique (I hate to say).

  5. Coach, I am bummed to hear that you are going to stop coaching. However, I know you will enjoy the extra time you will now have with your son. First Raley, now you... maybe I am next?

  10. Enjoy the time with your son. Will you be coaching his team this year instead? That would be a pretty cool opportunity. Best of luck!

  11. Glad to see that you will still be blogging. Enjoy the time with you son.
Will there be a second stint as a youth coach? 13yr olds are a lot different from 10yr olds.
